The Beginning

1990’s

 

“I could always tell when my grandmother was cooking, It was as if the aroma of garlic, onions and ginger being sautéed were as loud as church bells ringing. She brought the tastes of the islands with her in every kitchen she entered. Eagerly I'd sit, watching her every move as she hummed her tunes, waiting to see the magic ingredient or secret technique she'd use to make the food so damn good . It wasn't until years I realized, it was the pure love of cooking that added the extra dash. Whether I am behind the stove in a restaurant with a full house or in your kitchen, I find myself humming, with a slight grin, finding solace in the simple art of cooking, much like my grandmother.”

The First Venture

While operating as the head chef for an esteemed restaurant in Central New York, Njeri created Suis Suis Catering. Suis Suis quickly amassed a cliental and began providing services from catering to weekly dietary-specific meal prep.

As the demand for authentic Afro-Caribbean dietary alternatives and meal preparation grew, Suis Suis sought out to make their delicious meals readily available for their consumers across New York State and soon across the world.

From this mission The Vegan Mac Lady was born.

A New Challenge

So here we are, we’ve successfully relocated to the Bay Area and have done enough hard work to get a fine person such as yourself interested in who we are. Not too shabby, if we do say so ourself.

Our Next Step - Opening a pop-up location in Downtown Oakland.

We are here to spread educational awareness, and to increase the convenience and accessibility of flavorful, quality, plant-based meals within the community. A switch to plant based should not feel like a sacrifice, its a benefit.

We’re not just another vegan pop-up, were making vitality taste oh so good.
